Diamond's Talented Women

Happy Women's Day!

On International Women's Day, we commemorate women's struggle for their social participation and rights. To celebrate this date, we take a look back at the careers of several actresses who have demonstrated their incredible talent in acting:

Julianne Moore: she is one of the few actresses who has won the four most important awards in the film industry: the Oscar, the Golden Globe, the BAFTA Award, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for different roles throughout her career. Some of her successful films include Suburbicon; A Single Man; Still Alice; and After the Wedding.

Rooney Mara: sister of actress Kate Mara, she began her acting career in television and independent films. She achieved great recognition with a supporting role in the biographical drama The Social Network (2010) and for her leading role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011). Nowadays you can see her in several films such as Lion, Side Effects, and Don't Worry He Won't Get Far on Foot.

Keira Knightley: the British actress is known in Hollywood for being part of independent films, blockbusters, and, her great specialty, period dramas, including Pride and Prejudice (2005) and Anna Karenina (2012). Other period films starring Keira Knightley include Colette and The Imitation Game. Would like to enjoy her talent in a more contemporary story? Then we recommend Official Secrets, a film that follows GCHQ translator Katharine Gun as she leaks a classified email urging spying on UN Security Council members to force a decision to go to war through a resolution. Accused of violating the Official Secrets Act, and facing the possibility of imprisonment, Katharine and her lawyers set out to defend her actions.
