Traveling with Diamond: Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre

A brief tour of Turkey!

In 2022, we’ll see the new film by Guy Ritchie starring Jason Statham (Parker), Josh Hartnett, Aubrey Plaza (Dirty Grandpa) and Hugh Grant (The Rewrite). Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre follows MI6 agent Orson Fortune and his team, who decide to recruit a movie star to carry out an undercover mission involving finding a high-tech weapon and prevent it from getting into the wrong hands.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre, like any other film by Guy Ritchie, stands out for its incredible landscapes. In this section of Traveling with Diamond, we take you to know one of its main locations, Turkey:

  • The Republic of Turkey is located between Asia and Europe and is a country that has historically combined Eastern and Western cultures.
  • Turkey has more than 70 million inhabitants and continues to grow. Turkish is the only language spoken throughout the country.
  • The main cities are Ankara and Istanbul and they have huge palaces, mosques and castles. One of the specific locations where Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre was filmed was Antalya, a Turkish seaside resort with an ancient harbor filled with yachts, beaches and hotels.
  • The most popular sport in Turkey is soccer, but another traditional sport was Yagli, also known as oil wrestling.
  • Turkish cuisine is world-renowned for its great variety. Its most celebrated dishes include Iskender Kebab, thinly sliced lamb served with a hot tomato sauce on pieces of bread; Manti, delicious Turkish ravioli; and Baklava, an exotic dessert of thin layers of puff pastry dough with chopped nuts. And of course, Turkish tea is a must.

Turkish cities can be recognized in other films such as The Water Diviner, starring Russell Crowe (Unhinged) or The Promise, whose cast includes Oscar Isaac (SuburbiconAt Eternity's Gate) and Christian Bale. In the latter, you can appreciate the impressive immensity of the Bosphorus River or the colorful details of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. Nowadays, Turkey’s spots are becoming more and more familiar due to the success of their soap operas.

The director of Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre expressed in his social networks: "Turkey is something of a revelation: beautiful food, country, hotels and people. After two months of filming I’d like to shoot all my films here.” Guy Ritchie once again brings us a film full of action, comedy and incredible unique locations, and, once again, the seventh art shows us its magic: traveling from the comfort of the movie theater.
