Isabelle Fuhrman's rejuvenation for The Orphan prequel

After eleven years, the actress will reprise the role of Esther, one of horror cinema's scariest villains

Orphan: First Kill, which is currently in post-production, will soon hit theaters to reveal more details about the dark past of Esther, an adult killer who looks like a child due to a medical condition called hypopituitarism. Few details were revealed about the plot, but one of them is that the villain will try to escape from a psychiatric clinic in Estonia to settle in the United States to torment a Connecticut family.

The prequel features a great cast, including Julia Stiles (Hustlers), Rossif Sutherland and Hiro Kanagawa. One of the big surprises of the prequel is the return of Isabelle Fuhrman, who is twenty-three years old, in the role of the child assassin.

How did they get an adult actress to reprise a character who looks nine years old?

It is really curious how the production team of Orphan: First Kill has worked. They resorted to prosthetics, makeup, and camera and lighting to make Isabelle Fuhrman look younger. In order for the actress to have an appearance in keeping with the character she portrays, they also added two girls as body doubles.

This way of working differs from most of today's films where CGI (computer-generated imagery) technology is generally used, but the production of Orphan: First Kill chose a different method. Some films known for their use of CGI are AvatarThe Lord of the Rings or Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but there are also countless films that used this type of animation in an unnoticed way.

In recent years, computer visual effects have been used repeatedly to make actors look younger, for example, Samuel L. Jackson (The Hateful 8) in Captain Marvel or Michael Douglas (And so It Goes) in Ant- Man. However, CGI can be a bit risky as it doesn’t always turn out as one expects.

It's anticipated that the prequel will bring even more intense visual imagery than the original. Are you ready? The great horror classic returns to tell us the other side of the story, and this time, it will be extremely bloody.

Orphan: First Kill will be released in 2022 in Latin America.
