Billie Holiday in the Grammy Hall of Fame

Find out all about it!

The Grammy Museum, located in Los Angeles and popularly known as the Hall of Fame, was created in 2001 to honor recordings that were made more than 25 years ago and are still relevant for their quality and historical significance. A committee composed of professionals and experts of the different genres choose the pieces every year.

New artists have been incorporated this year and the museum has 1142 recordings now. Some that stand out are: Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, Tribe Call Quest, and Billie Holiday.

Holiday was one of the most important and influential jazz singers of the 20th century and will enter the hall for her song Solitude. Although she died at a young age, her legacy lives on and several of her songs have transcended generations.

We will be able to dig deeper into her story and her life in the biopic to be released this year called The United States vs Billie Holiday. The protagonist of the story is Grammy winner Andra Day, a role for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and earned her an Academy Award nomination in the same category.
