We, movie fans, love to immerse ourselves in different stories, identify with each character and dream about what will happen next. But there is also another type of movies, where the story is not fictitious but rather based on true stories, and that's when we empathize even more with what we are being told as sometimes really incredible things happen that we can't believe were actually part of a person's life. Here we recommend three titles that will amaze you:
1) The Courier, a film directed by Dominic Cooke and starring Academy Award nominee Benedict Cumberbatch, two-time Golden Globe-winning actress Rachel Brosnahan and a great cast. What is it about? It tells about part of Greville Wynne’ life, a British businessman who is recruited by MI6 as he travels frequently to Russia. He was accused of transporting top-secret information to London which was provided by Soviet agent Oleg Penkovsky (Merab Ninidze). We won't tell you anything else so you can watch it without spoilers!
2) Silk Road is based on the life of Ross Ulbricht, who was the alleged creator of a black market in the so-called deep web through which he sold narcotics. An undercover DEA agent will follow in his footsteps and send him to prison. Who is in the cast? Nick Robinson, Jason Clarke, Jimmi Simpson (Unhinged), Alexandra Shipp, among others.
3) Fatima is the story of the apparitions of the Virgin to three little shepherds in1917. Neither their mother nor the authorities of the Church believed them, so they try to force them to retract their statements. But this doesn’t stop them and as the news spreads, hundreds of religious pilgrims arrive at the place where they witness what is known today as the Miracle of the Sun. It is directed by excellent Marco Pontecorvo and is stars Harvey Keitel, Sônia Braga, Stephanie Gil, Lúcia Moniz, Joaquim de Almeida and Goran Visnjic. Fun fact? The main song of the soundtrack is called Gratia Plena and it is performed by Andrea Bocelli.
