André Øvredal was seduced by Alvin Schwartz’s work

The director was amazed by the author of Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark

The first contact between Norwegian director André Øvredal and the workby Alvin Schwartz took place when he was called to direct Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, the film produced by multifaceted Guillermo del Toro.

And this happened because the series of horror books that scarred American generations and the whole world was not available in Norway. But everything changed when he read Del Toro’s script, he fell in love with the story and he started reading the original books right away.

Both the director and the producer had in mind that one the strongest points of Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark were the illustrations by Stephen Gammell, and that is why they were 98% faithful so that what was shown in the big screen was as faithful as the original drawings.

The film is about a group of teenagers that gets in trouble when finding Sarah Bellows’ book. Unaware of the consequences, they bring to life several monsters (Harold, The Pale Lady, Red Spot and Big Toe) that will put a quiet town in risk.

An unmissable film!
