Mahershala Ali, Bafta award for best supporting actor for Green Book

The actor shines once again in another important ceremony awards

His role as skilled pianist Don Shirley continues to dazzle. Shortly after winning a Golden Globe award, the American actor Mahershala Ali triumphs once again with an overwhelming victory after being awarded best supporting actor for Green Book at the Bafta.

The 72° award ceremony of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts exalts again the artist who embodies the prominent black musician as he faced the racist violence of the 60s.

Fortunately, he was not alone. In a tour through the south of the United States, he befriended a great travelling companion: rude but well- intentioned driver Tony Lip, an Italian American of the suburbs played by Viggo Mortensen.

Ali went up the stage to collect the treasured gold mask, and visibly moved he said it feels “a bit surreal” to be awarded for something he feels “so passionate about”.

Towards the most important film award

With five nominations for the Oscars, the film directed by Peter Farrelly continues in race to the maximum award of the seventh art. Ali will compete again in the category for supporting actor.

Will he make history again? We’ll have to wait for the ceremony this February 24.
