Mimi Leder, a filmmaker who breaks the limits

In charge of On the Basis of Sex, the biopic on Ruth Bader Ginsburg

The name Mimi Leder appears in the list of directors of the hundred highest grossing films in history.

Quite an achievement if one takes into account that only a handful of women directors are included in that ranking in an industry still governed mostly by men.

But Leder knew how to make a name and for that she had a luxury protection. Thus, Steven Spielberg himself discovered her in the sea of aspiring Hollywood filmmakers and hired her to direct The Peacemaker (1997).

Since then, she has combined the direction of television series and blockbuster films, although there is one that took deep in Leder’s heart: Sentimental Journey, the film about her parents, whose idyll was born in the Auschwitz concentration camp.

What's new with Mimi Leder

This New Yorker director surprises us now with On The Basis of Sex, the biopic on Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a magistrate who has spent her career breaking the limits to defend women's rights.

Felicity Jones is responsible for playing this woman who, when nobody thought it possible, managed to be a justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
