Traveling with Diamond: To Catch a Killer

Let's take a brief tour of the film's locations

We continue with this great section of Traveling with Diamond to visit different cities that star in our films. Some time ago we went to Bahía Azul in Mexico with The Black Demon, and today we grab our bags and head to Baltimore, the main location of one of our latest films, To Catch a Killer.

The film opens with a vicious attack in the city, produced by a single man, that leaves twenty-nine dead and not a single clue. Eleanor Falco, a reserved but talented low-level cop, is recruited by FBI Special Agent Geoffrey Lammark to join the team in charge of identifying and capturing the killer. This is an American-made police thriller in which a policewoman and an FBI agent investigate a mass murder at the hands of a mysterious subject.

Starring Shailene Woodley (Adrift) and Ben Mendelsohn, the film takes place mainly in urban Baltimore, the most populated city in the U.S. state of Maryland. It is a place with humid summers and extreme winters as seen in the film, although, at times, temperatures can become milder to the point of experiencing several spring periods. On the other hand, Baltimore's architecture stands out for a combination of different periods. However, the main thing we can recognize in the film is the World Trade Center and its imposing buildings. Historically a working-class port city, today it is characterized by its infinite number of neighborhoods.

The place where Edgar Allan Poe and Michael Phelps were born is the main location of To Catch a Killer, the film directed by Damián Szifrón. The director, who has previously made several films and a successful series in Argentina, not only sought to tell a different story about an attack, but also explored various themes such as the use and control of weapons, the power of the law, and the misplaced priorities of political figures.
