International Astronomy Day: Space movies

Let's take a brief look at films that travel to other planets or galaxies

Today is International Astronomy Day! The main purpose of this special date is to bring this huge universe closer to ordinary people and to motivate the next generations to take an interest in this science.

To continue with this initiative, here is a list of several movies related to this fascinating world:

Moonfall: a mysterious force causes the moon to break out of its orbit, threatening the life of human beings on Planet Earth. Astronauts Jo Fowler (Halle Berry), Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson), and a conspiracy theorist (John Bradley) are tasked with saving humanity.

The space between us: a modern love story between two teenagers from different worlds. Gardner Elliot, the first human being born on Mars, is secretly raised in an experimental colony after his astronaut mother dies during childbirth. Sixteen years later, he begins an online romance with a young woman living in Colorado and plans to travel across the universe to meet her.

Ender's Game: After surviving a devastating attack by a kind of insect called Formics, humans have spent years preparing for another attack. For that, the new generation of children is trained as warriors. The best and brightest children on the planet are selected to attend Battle School, an orbiting space station where they compete for a chance to become commanders in the International Fleet.
