Monkey Man tells the story of a recently released ex-convict in India who must face the challenge of integrating into a society dominated by corporate greed and where spiritual values are in decline.
This is the first time actor Dev Patel has directed and starred in a film. This constitutes a big step for him as he had previously only worked as a performer in other films. However, he was not alone. His right-hand man was producer Jordan Peele, the director of Get Out and Nope, who oversaw the project to make sure it would be a success.
The film addresses the notion of revenge from an innovative approach, merging the individual with the political in the specific setting of India. Throughout its violence-packed plot, it offers a complete vision of the richness and desolation of this country while showing its contrasts in a very particular way.
Monkey Man conveys a powerful message with an outstanding cast, including Sobhita Dhuliwala, Brahim Achabbakhe, Pitobash, Sikander Kher, and Sharlto Copley.
The film will hit theaters in Latin America this year.
More to come!
