May December is coming to the big screen

You can now enjoy the film by Todd Haynes

May December follows a young actress who meets the woman she will play in a movie that delves into a story that happened twenty years ago, in which a woman was sentenced to prison for having an affair with a thirteen-year-old boy, whom she later married and raised a family.

The film nominated for four Golden Globes is inspired by real events, more specifically, the story of Vili Fualaau, who was only twelve years old, and Mary Kay Letourneau, his teacher. The scandal broke out in a quiet community in Seattle in 1996.

Since Letourneau was a married woman with four children and always said she never thought she was doing anything illegal by engaging in a relationship with a student, the film seeks to explore one of the great talents of the human species: the imminent refusal to look at oneself. Samy Burch's screenplay delves into potentially complex issues that lead the viewer to observe and question, and above all, it offers the opportunity to find identification in the least expected places.

Would you like to see this film on the big screen? Starring Natalie Portman (Jackie) and Julianne Moore (Still Alice; A Single Man), May December is now available in theaters in Latin America.
