Peter Turner and his memoirs with Gloria Grahame

Film stars don’t die in Liverpool reveals the intimacies of a great romance

Peter Turner wrote the memoirs on which the film is based and that has him as a co-star: Film stars don't die in Liverpool. When he was just a young actor making his way, he lived an epic romance with an already icon in Hollywood, femme fatale Gloria Grahame, played by Annette Bening.

From real life to the big screen

But, how does Turner feel about watching his story in theaters?

"It is a wonderful experience. I wrote the book based on my memories. I did not investigate anything. I did not want it to be something indiscreet or gossip related. I wanted it to be my story."

Gloria was certainly a movie legend, but Annette Bening is a legend of today's international cinema. What was it like to see her on the screen? Peter was asked. "It's amazing because we have a great actress playing another great actress," and added: "Annette put a lot of herself into the character. Both actresses are fed back. And that is quite unusual."

Great performances and a great story make this film a must- see piece of art.
