Lord of Misrule: Tuppence Middleton's experience

The actress tells us all about her upcoming film

Lord of Misrule tells the story of Rebecca Holland, who has become the minister of a rural English village. When her young daughter Grace goes missing at the autumn festival, the villagers and the police join forces in a desperate search. However, the closer they get to finding Grace, the more secrets about the village's dark past come to light. Soon, Rebecca must decide how much she is willing to sacrifice to rescue her daughter from evil. This is a very moving story about a family torn apart by the disappearance of a close relative. The film looks specifically at Rebecca's denial and the need to confront the fear that pervades the small rural community.

Tuppence Middleton, the protagonist of this terrifying story, was always keen on horror films, and in particular, folk horror. When she first read the script for this project, she noticed the inspiration in 1970s films such as The Wicker Man and Don't Look Now, and decided she had to meet with director William Brent Bell to be part of this film.

She is quite different from her character but she identified with her tenacity and passion. Tuppence achieved a faithful representation of her character, who has flaws and peculiarities that are both human and relatable. To carry out her role, she researched and interviewed a minister to learn more about their life and the duties they have to their parish. Apart from that, she also re-watched some folk horror films to learn and identify the details of the genre.

Would you like to see this chilling story on the big screen? The film will be in theatres in Latin America next year.
