Bart Freundlich: “a story that lives in the real world”

The filmmaker and a captivating film: After the Wedding

Directors always admire the job of other colleagues because each film and focus allows them to find a new starting point for their own productions.

Bart Freundlich was a fan of the work by Danish director Susanne Bier, responsible for Efter brylluppet (2006), a film he hadn’t watched, but when he did, he was amazed.

He thought the intensive development of the characters and the modern way the plot was told was convincing, so he decided to direct a new version: After The Wedding.

“It is a story that lives in the real world”, he says. “I loved it and I wanted to explore deeper that human fragility and the happiness that resulted from the people we meet throughout our lives. After all, we are all in this journey, but we really don´t control where it takes us.”

After The Wedding. A donation, a secret disclosed
