Five reasons not to miss After The Wedding

A must-see drama film written and directed by Bart Freundlich

  • The remake of a successful film

The film is a remake of the great Danish film Efter brylluppet (2006). But, in a very original turn of story, in After The Wedding the two main male roles were changed and now they are women.

  • An outstanding cast

Both actresses of important films, Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams lead the cast. Billy Crudup also plays another important role as Moore's husband and key piece of the plot.

  • Captivating story

The manager of an orphanage in Calcutta (Williams) travels to New York to meet her mysterious benefactor: a successful businesswoman (Moore) whose husband shares a past with the newcomer from India. A past that comes to light with shocking consequences.

  • Husband and wife

Director Bart Freundlich is Moore's husband. It was exciting for the couple to premiere the film at the Sundance Festival, just as they did 22 years ago with another cheered film The Myth of Fingerprints, before getting married, having children and sharing a life together.

  • The critics have given their verdict

Before its premiere in theaters, the film was warmly received by specialized critics. Just to give an example, Variety said that "the turns are so unexpected that you really have to hold your breath."
