"A rough night in Artemis", Jodie Foster’s character is heard whispering, while she walks restlessly a half-light corridor. She is in that hotel with the name of a Greek deity, but in fact it is a secret hospital for criminals and there are strict coexistence rules.
The adrenaline the trailer for Hotel Artemis transmits gives an idea of the bet Drew Pearce, the screenwriter of Iron Man 3 and Mission Impossible, made for his first movie. In this futurist opera prima, Foster embodies an experienced nurse with a strong personality who runs the establishment where criminals seek refuge to heal their wounds.
A hospital with rules
The hospital was built under a series of rules. Insulting the staff is not allowed. No weapons are allowed. And, especially, it is forbidden to kill the other patients. But this structure of rules crumbles during the night of the most violent riots in California's history.
Together with Foster, an extraordinary cast is involved in which Sofia Boutella, Sterling K. Brown and Dave Bautista stand out.
