7 days in Entebbe: the challenge of production

The stage for a terrorist attack

Based on real events, 7 days in Entebbe took the liberty of transferring to the seventh art a shocking terrorist attack and an unforgettable rescue operation.

The staging of a nightmare

In 1976, the world went into shock with the hijacking of an airplane with 248 passengers by militants of the Palestinian cause.

The plane heading to Paris was diverted to Entebbe, Uganda, where a fearsome dictator governed. Captive and impotent, the hostages were placed in an abandoned airport terminal of the place.

This nightmarish scenario was one of the greatest challenges faced by filmmakers. "I wanted to build it without visual effects, with the documentary quality of a real set" said director José Padilha.

The production was inclined to build an original replica of the terminal in Malta. More than sixty people worked in the construction. A certain commitment of production with authenticity with a brilliant result to make the audience live a unique experience.
