TIFF 2023 is here!

A look back at the Toronto International Film Festival

Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) took place from 7 September to 17 September. It is a key event in the world of the seventh art as it serves as a launching and presentation platform for titles that will be released soon.

Despite the strike by screenwriters and actors, several successful directors such as Alexander Payne, Craig Gillespie, and Richard Linklater attended the event.

The outstanding work of filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar was also recognized and he received an award during the festival. This took place during the presentation of his short film Strange Way of Life, a thirty-minute western starring Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke (Before Midnight; Juliet, Naked). The director accepted the Jeff Skoll Award, which recognizes leadership in creating a union between social impact and cinema. Pedro Almodóvar directed wonderful films such as The Skin I Live In, a film that tells the story of a plastic surgeon who takes sadistic revenge on the man who raped his daughter. The film is an adaptation of the novel "Tarantula".

Other celebrities who attended the Toronto International Film Festival were Jessica Chastain (355; Molly’s Game) and Peter Sarsgaard (Jackie), who landed in Toronto to present a new film by Mexican director Michel Franco.
