Wash Westmoreland: a life behind the camera

A tour of the person in charge of Colette

Wash Westmoreland is a 52-year-old English director with extensive experience in independent film, documentaries, television and commercial films.

Many of his works were performed in duo with Richard Glatzer, his partner and co-writer. Glatzer died in 2015 and one of his last productions was Colette, which is about to be released.

Among his filmography is Still Alice (2014), starring Julianne Moore, Kristen Stewart and Alec Baldwin; The Last of Robin Hood (2012) with Kevin Kline, Susan Sarandon and Dakota Fanning, and Quinceañera (2006) which won a double victory at Sundance (Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize).

Colette. The story of an empowered woman

The new project by Westmoreland has a very strong emotional value for the director, since he carried out the project that began with his deceased husband. The story, set in the France of 1900, shows the courage and determination of Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette (Keira Knightley) to make known her work that initially came out under the name of her husband (Dominic West).
