Travelling with Diamond: The Estate

Let's take a brief tour of the film's locations

We continue with this wonderful section of Travelling with Diamond to get to know different cities that star in our films. We recently traveled to Saudi Arabia with one of our latest films, Kandahar. Today we're packing our bags and heading to New Orleans, the main location for one of this year's releases, The Estate.

The film tells the story of two sisters, Macey and Savanna who have the perfect plan: to win the heart of their terminally ill and hard-to-please Aunt Hilda in the hope of becoming the beneficiaries of her vast estate. But they will soon discover that other greedy family members have the same idea.

The Estate was filmed in February 2022 in the Garden District of New Orleans, among other locations, including Macey and Savanna's modest family home in suburban Gretna, Louisiana. However, the real star and main location of the film is Aunt Hilda's incredible home, the iconic Buckner Mansion. The place becomes a character in its own right because of its importance to the story and its architectural grandeur. Built as a personal residence in 1856, the enormous estate has been the setting for several film and television productions, including the series American Horror Story.

Toni Collette (Hereditary) and Anna Faris, who play the two sisters going through a rough patch, shared their thoughts on the film's main location. Whereas Toni said that all the houses in Louisiana are amazing, Anna Faris pointed out that they had incredibly talented and passionate people to bring this world to life, including production designer Austin Gorg, who decorated one room with an incredible wall tapestry, a tiger devouring a lamb and stuffed snakes. Every detail of the film is designed to convey the twisted mind of one of the main characters, Aunt Hilda.

Featuring a superb cast including David Duchovny and Rosemarie DeWitt, The Estate will hit theatres across Latin America this year.

Stay tuned for more trips!
