The Estate: trailer and poster

Learn everything about this comedy

This year you will have the chance to see The Estate, a film that tells the story of two sisters, Macey and Savanna, who have the perfect plan: to win the heart of their terminally ill and hard-to-please Aunt Hilda in the hope of becoming the beneficiaries of her vast estate. But they soon discover that other greedy family members have the same idea.

The director of this must-see black comedy is Dean Craig, who previously wrote the successful film Death at a Funeral. The Estate maintains Dean Craig's dark humor but adds a twist as the film is notable for its portrayal of women. They are very strong characters with a masculine touch. The director says: "I really wanted to do something where the female characters led the way in terms of behavior that was interesting and funny, maybe a bit weird, and certainly morally challenging – characters that are flawed," he explains. "That was one of the main reasons I wanted to write this film."

The Estate stars Toni Collette (Hereditary) and Anna Faris, who are two sisters going through a rough patch, and are determined to become the main beneficiaries of their aunt's will. The cast also includes David Duchovny and Rosemarie DeWitt as their cousins and main rivals, Richard and Beatrice.

The film will hit theatres in Latin America this year.
