Celebrating its 50th anniversary, 2018 will be the year Mazinger Z returns to theaters around the world. Created by screenwriter and manga artist Go Nagai, the character began to take shape in his head when he was in a traffic jam and imagined that his means of transport could have feet and thus get out of there.
Synopsis of Mazinger Z
From that initial inspiration, Go Nagai created the basis of the series: a group of scientists who have a giant robot, manned by Koji Kabuto, and who fights against the evil forces of Dr. Hell who tries over and over again to conquer the world.
Creation of the mecha genre
The story was revolutionary because it made the creation of mecha genre possible, since Mazinger Z was the first giant robot manned inside by a protagonist, and that characteristic would be copied in many other Japanese productions.
