Learn more about this touching film

One Life tells the story of British philanthropist Nicholas Winton, who played a pivotal role in saving numerous children from the Nazis just before the outbreak of World War II. The inspiration behind the movie's title is a quote from the film Schindler's List: "Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire.”

This incredible story is based on real events, specifically on Sir Nicholas Winton, who saved the lives of 669 children throughout 1938 and 1939. On July 1, 2015, following the death of this great hero, newspaper obituaries and headlines in the British press called him 'The British Schindler'.

The film's cast includes Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins (The Son; Solace), and three Oscar nominees - Jonathan Pryce (Woman in Gold), Lena Olin, and Helena Bonham Carter, whose maternal grandfather, Eduardo Proper de Callejón, also played a prominent role during World War II saving many Jews from the Holocaust by forging Spanish exit visas.
