Free yourself from prejudice

The comedy Poms shoots against the limitations imposed on the elderly

Poms is a comedy that, through a crazy story about a group of old cheerleaders, questions social conventions about the elderly.

Zara Hayes, director of the film whose cast is headed by Diane Keaton, feels sorry that as it happens with people with disabilities, older people are imposed a series of limitations on what they can or cannot do.

Hayes revealed that Poms is inspired by a real group of women who, in a retirement home, were encouraged to put together a group of cheerleaders. "In them I saw a real empowerment to do what they wanted, and they loved it," said the filmmaker.

In this sense, the director added: "this film does not have an agenda. But I would love it to influence people's thinking, that it impacts for example on what someone thinks about what their grandmother could do."

An endearing story

Fighting against prejudices, the cast of Poms takes the pom-poms and dances because the films does not only discuss the concept of age in a very funny way, but it also does not forget to highlight the value of friendship.
