Arthur the King tells the story of Mikael Lindnord, the Swedish adventure athletics team captain, who had a particular encounter during the 400-mile race in the Ecuadorian jungle when a stray dog crossed his path. Lindnord fed it, and from that moment on, the dog followed him for the rest of the journey. After the race, the runner adopted him and took him to Sweden.
Who are the main characters in this wonderful story? Let's take a brief look at them!
Mark Wahlberg (Mile 22; All the Money in the World) plays Michael Light, the team leader. He is obsessed with winning this race to the point that he is willing to sacrifice virtually anyone or anything to do so. However, as the race progresses, he encounters this dog who makes the entire journey alongside him. This new presence makes him rethink all his priorities, and getting Arthur to safety.
On the other hand, British actress Juliet Rylance plays Helen, Michael's wife. To carry out her character, she spent considerable time getting to know the real Helen, who was an accomplished adventure racer and also her husband's teammate before the birth of their daughter. The most important detail about her presence is that she does not represent a wife sitting at home. On the contrary, she knows that Michael is frustrated and doesn't know what his next step should be. She is wonderfully supportive and down to earth.
Finally, Simu Liu (One True Loves) plays Leo, Michael's lifelong teammate, an adventurous athlete, and an influencer. He is very conscious of the image he gives to the world, and he is a world-class adventure racer who tries to monetize his platform. Therefore, he is pitted against purist Michael, and the two often clash.
