What are the Beekeepers? They are a special program outside the chain of command, in other words, a figure who works ruthlessly during the most extreme circumstances of national emergency. The film begins with Adam Clay, a retired Beekeeper, uncovering a conspiracy at the highest levels of government. He will have to unlock all defense mechanisms and carry out his new mission, a brutal campaign of revenge against those who killed his people.
The main protagonist of the story is Jason Statham, an international star known for his action films. The son of Eileen Yates and Barry Statham, both linked to the world of show business and art, his professional beginnings were in the fashion industry because an agent saw him while he was training and considered him the right person. However, Jason aspired to a career as an actor. To achieve this, he made his first film debut alongside Guy Ritchie in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. He later teamed up with Ritchie again in Snatch, in which he starred alongside Brad Pitt and Benicio Del Toro, and in the crime movie Wrath of Man.
Now he plays the skilled Adam Clay in The Beekeeper. He is a soldier ready to protect society whenever it can't protect itself. Clay is a retired professional beekeeper, strong and determined, a lonely man of few words. A unique feature of this character is that he is not a gun guy, he kills almost all of his adversaries without shooting. The film's director explains: "He doesn't go through life carrying a gun”.
The film is directed by David Ayer, who previously made Suicide Squad, and co-stars Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games; The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), and Jeremy Irons (Beautiful Creatures; Race). The Beekeeper will hit theatres in Latin America on 11 January 2024.
