The writer's trade

To learn more about the mind of the creator of this story, Kimmel Smith was asked how he began writing for children. "By accident", he said without hesitation. And he adds: “It was for my daughter Heidi. The bedtime stories I invented for her every night began to grow and grow. That is what happens with good stories, you know.”

Kimmel Smith also said that ideas come from life itself. “War With Grandpa came to my mind thanks to my son Roger, who told me that he loved his room and that he would never live anywhere else. Then, of course, I wrote a story about a child who is forced to leave his room,” he said in an interview.
