Talk to Me tells the story of a group of friends who discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand. This awakens an unexpected thrill in them and as they start using it more often, one of them goes too far and unleashes terrible supernatural forces.
The film is a supernatural horror journey where everyone involved remains in contact with the spirits and must try to do everything possible to save themselves. The film also seeks to delve into other themes such as the passage from childhood to adulthood, that moment in which you take risks but the consequences are more complex. Talk to Me is a faithful reflection of adolescence, where one does not know how to deal with feelings and discovers some escape valves that alter the mind.
The film stars Sophie Wilde, Miranda Otto, Joe Bird, and Alexandra Jensen. It is also the first time Danny and Michael Philippou direct a feature film together. Nevertheless, it is not the first time the two brothers have faced the challenge of directing and post-production as they previously ran a successful YouTube channel known as RackaRacka. However, they tried to make a difference in this project as they prioritized two things when telling this story: designing a believable world through visual effects and exploring a deeper message that transcends the usual fear of a horror film and invites reflection.
