Destination wedding: sarcastic humor and a lot of chemistry

The film made one-to-one between Ryder and Reeves

Having two mega-stars in the cast of a film is a challenge that any filmmaker wants to face.

And director Victor Levin ran of good luck because he managed to gather for his movie Destination wedding two individuals who are already friends and accomplices in real life: Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves. According to Levin, after having acted together in three films, Reeves and Ryder have a great screen dynamic that reflects their friendship outside of it. "Their relationship was a huge asset," he says.

And something that characterized the backstage of the film was Levin’s decision that the characters of Lindsay and Frank were the only ones who spoke in the film.

"The chemistry between Keanu and Winona is the heart of the film, and together they are brilliant," he says. "The wedding happens around him, but in reality they are not part of it," he argues. The idea of this one-to-one came to Levin during the filming process. A bold decision that in turn simplified the filming process.

Opposites attract

Lindsay and Frank meet each other when, forced, they attend a sumptuous three-day wedding in a vineyard. Between sarcastic humor and clever jokes, they will go from hating to feeling an unexpected attraction to each other.
