The true protagonists of Beautiful boy

The tough emotions in a moving film about the family bond in difficult times

Beautiful boy is the movie that has been drawing attention during the last months. And it has not been released in all theaters yet.

For those who still do not know the background story, it is the film based on two memories: on the one hand, the acclaimed journalist David Sheff and, on the other, his son Nic, who went through a decade addicted to the drugs.

Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet star in this real story

David Sheff says he never thought about publishing his story, which became the bestseller Beautiful boy: A father's journey through his son's addiction."When I could not sleep, I just sat and wrote," he recalls. "Then I would go back to the notes I had taken in the middle of the night and remember in a very vivid way how difficult it was, how much pain I felt."

Nic began writing his memoirs after another failed attempt at rehabilitation. David was surprised by what he read in Tweak: Growing up on methamphetamines. "I cried on every page," he said.

David's story also surprised his son, who has revealed that made him realized the dimension of chaos he had created in his family.

"He suffered constantly, and I had no idea," confesses young Sheff.
