The film directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, Talk to Me, follows a group of friends who discover how to summon spirits using an embalmed hand and get caught up in this new way of entertainment until one of them goes too far and opens the door to the spirit world.
The movie explores the passage from childhood to adulthood, that stage in which you take risks but the consequences are more complex. Talk to Me is a faithful reflection of adolescence, where one doesn’t know how to deal with feelings and discovers some escape valves that alter the mind. The film seeks to resemble today's world, with its conflicts, through a very particular genre: horror.
It was directed by two YouTubers twin brothers, who began filming their wrestling matches with friends until they decided to do something more formal with their content. They tried with a TV show and small short films on the internet. One of the YouTube channel's first hits was Harry Potter VS Star Wars, which received 7 million views in just one week.
Talk to Me had its world premiere during the Sundance Film Festival in January and aims to become one of the most surprising horror films of 2023.
