Keira Knightley, admirer of her character

The actress did not hesitate a moment to star in famous Colette

Director Wash Westmoreland remembers his first conversation with Keira Knightley. There was some discomfort in the environment: a video call at midnight while he was at a party in Shanghai.

"I thought, 'My God, I have Keira Knightley on my iPhone', and then I saw that I only had 20% battery, I was like, 'Oh, hell, my whole life depends on this moment,'" recalls Westmoreland, and he finishes: "After a while, I looked at the screen again and I had 2% left, so I played my last card: 'You will make this character better than anyone.' And Keira said, 'Yes, why not?! ' And the phone died."

A biopic of the French novelist

And why was Knightley so interested in playing Colette that she did not hesitate for a moment? "I just thought she was great." "I think Colette was an extremely interesting person, and that the relationship between her and Willy was fascinating."

Colette and Willy were like the first modern celebrity couple. She was his ghost writer until she rebelled and ended up becoming one of the most famous and beloved literary figures in France.
