Another year begins with one of the most important film festivals of the seventh art, the Venice International Film Festival. During its 80th edition, director Damien Chazelle will be the jury president for the main competition, and French director Alice Diop will chair the Luigi De Laurentiis debut film award jury. The festival aims to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment, and also as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue.

Let's take a look at some of the most prominent nominated films:

One of this year's big surprises is Ferrari, a film that delves into the life story of Italian car entrepreneur Enzo Ferrari. The biopic features an outstanding cast including Shailene Woodley (Adrift; To Catch a Killer), Adam Driver (The Report; Logan Lucky), Penelope Cruz (355), Jack O'Connell, and Patrick Dempsey. Directed by Michael Mann, the director and the film have received well-deserved nominations in their respective categories.

Attendees will also get the chance to watch Dogman, a film that tells the story of a young man with a difficult life, who finds salvation through his love for his dogs. The film has several nominations, among them for the talented director Luc Besson, who has made several successful films, such as Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
